Facebook Changes Business Posting Rules

In July, Facebook implemented several changes and new rules in an effort to combat fake news. As a result of this, you may have noticed some minor changes to your personal Facebook feed. Under the new rules, when businesses post to social media, Facebook captures and displays some of what’s on the back end of the linked website. The new policies also limit what photos businesses can use on Facebook.

Ultimately, this is going to be good for businesses such as yours that use Facebook to promote quality products. In the next few weeks, we will be helping you to make some changes to your Facebook page to verify your status as a legitimate business.

The process is similar to that of Google Business Pages. You can expect a phone call from us within the next few days as we verify your Facebook page. When we call, we’ll need to know whose phone number is associated with your business’s page. Once we know that, we will start verifying your page. Whoever has the phone associated with the business account will need to be ready to take a phone call from Facebook. We will call first and explain exactly what to do when Facebook calls. Please be assured that this is a very easy process that will take less than a minute to complete.

The good news is that once your page is verified, your information will show up higher when people search on Facebook. It also will allow you to display a broader range of photos.

Behind the scenes, we’ll also make some minor changes to the back end of your website in order to take full advantage of the new Facebook rules. This will not affect the functionality or appearance of your website. If you have any questions about this part of the process, please let us know. The changes are different for every website.
