It takes a community to raise a race

Without volunteers, the Crim would not be.

Without dreamers, the Crim would not be.

Without directors, the Crim would not be.

Without entertainers, the Crim would not be.

Although the staff has grown through the years, it is the thousands of volunteers who make the Crim Festival of Races, the training program and all of the components of the Crim successful.

Some of the volunteers have worked the first 30 years (see links at right).

People use the race in meaningful ways. For instance, the late Bill Kelley won't be forgotten at the Crim.

Many beat physical and mental challenges to run or walk in the race.

Of course, without runners there would be no race.

Volunteers, like Brian Barkey and Pat Fizell, also often participate in a race or walk. They join runners like Mike Bowen, who runs for a cause, and Riley McLincha, who decided to run for fun and drubble.

Some runners are "almost famous." They missed only the first of the 29 Crim races.

Some runners are "famous." They've participated in the first 29 races and expect to do the 30th one in 2006.

Kenn Domerese's daughters will run with him as 'Team Domer' in his 30th Crim race.

Mark Bauman of Flushing, who also volunteered for each race, plans to run his 30th.
